Daniel Joseph Feeney

Born Feb. 15, 1960 - London, Ontario, Canada. The Catholic Children's Aid treats information about adoptee's and their parents like horded gold, so what I know is - I'm half native (Delaware Six Nations) and on hearsay that the other side is apparently a mixture of French/Syrian. Not much to go on.

Adopted at 2 months. Grew up in Rummelhardt (Erbsville Rd. at Erb St., Waterloo, Ontario). Brother Michael, sisters Jacqueline and Paula. Here's a picture of the K-W Bilingual school about 500 metres from where I grew up.

Attended Erbsville Public School 1965 - 1972. Erbsville is known primarily for it's Go-Kart Track, where my brother-in-law and nephew now work.

People around my own age that I remember, in no particular order, are: next door neighbours Louis, Susan, Larry, Wayne Reidel, Barbara Hodgson; at school - Matt Gremm, Mark and Nina Heinitz, Joan and Jim Jutzi, Bruce Schnarr, Bev Harder, Nancy Kastl, Carol and Linda Jacobi, Glen Waechter, Brent and Brian Doerner... many more.... I often wonder about some of these folks. It's strange, but just saying some of these name evokes very strong memories of the time and place. Ice hockey on the outdoor rink on winter mornings. The fields of corn. The dead elm in the middle of the field...

As I'm a J. K. Rowling fanatic, one of the things I remember pretty clearly was the folkloric existence of witches in the area - one just over on Erb at the top of the hill, and the other just East of the old rifle range, in a farm house set way back from the road. What I really mean is, there were woods around when I was a kid, and I would wonder about them all day long in the summer. "The world beneath," as I've sometimes called that place from which all desire, all passion arises, beneath the grid of the quotidian - that place first came to my notice there.

When my adoptive parents were divorced, I was more upset about having to leave those woods than anything else.
