Twelve years, 60,000 students, 1400 hrs of group tutorials, 3000 hrs of one-on-one tutoring and $50,000 worth of candy given away... this is why it is hard for me to finally decide to retire from being Dan THE Tutor.

When I started, I was a pre-med. Now I am two years into practice as a pathologist and my teaching responsibilities at the UBC medical school, the UBC patholology residency training program,  the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program, and the Masters in Public Health have to take precedence - not to mention the three kids at home and the medical practice itself.

So, I will not be offering group tutorials for undergraduate science courses at UBC any longer.

I have really loved doing "Dan THE Tutor" and I am indebted to the following people:

  • My wife Kathy who made it possible for me to be away from home for so many evenings and weekends.
  • Dr. Dezene Huber of UNBC who suggested that I try running group tutorials.
  • Dr. Matthew Weins who was my most effective and longstanding poster person.
  • Mr. Sam Bain who helped with tutoring in the final two years.
  • Ms. Sunshine Hanan who made bookings possible.
  • People who worked and/or volunteered for me: Brian Schick, Sassan Sangsari, Elysia Dubland, Joshua Dubland, Martha Ignaszewski, and Diana Louie.
I will be posting the material that I have written for exam preparation for no charge for use by UBC students. This material is copyrighted unless specifically stated.
