Charting the Generations

Frampton, Bertsch, Thomson, Matthews, Chenoweth

Jackie and I are looking for information about our respective family histories. Most of our research to date is in public libraries, the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, and information from relatives.

In the spring of '99, we headed for West Virginia to find a couple of cemeteries. We knew we would be able to confirm some information if we could locate some grave markers. Here are pictures from that trip.

The greatest challenge was finding an old cemetery in West Virginia, the Board-Seaman Cemetery. It is in this cemetery that Jackie's great grandparents Ira Stout Chenoweth, and Matilda McCoy Chenoweth, are buried. It was an interesting trip down back roads and through picturesque West Virginia valleys. We found the cemetery and marked it with our GPS.

  Also buried here is
Ufa Gladys Chenoweth, who would have been Jackie's aunt. Although the marker is in bad shape, it is still possible to read the inscription.

Our trip to West Virginia coincided with Memorial Day.

The cemetery at Ravenswood, on the East side of the Ohio River, was decorated with may flags and flowers. Here many members of Jackie's family are buried.
