The original description of my show was as follows:
Gumdrops and Lollipops is, as it sounds, a sweet-sweet show. Most of the music I play can be described as sing-a-long-able, cute, and/ or nostalgic. Gumdrops and Lollipops exists in part to show you, the listener, that pop music is not only permissible in the summertime.
The show has never completely lived up to its description. It's definitely a pop program, but I hope that through listening, you'll discover just how broadly this genre can be interpreted. In preparing the content for this show, I try to keep things simple and follow my love of catchy songs while upholding the DIY spirit I've always been drawn toward. Whenever I try to justify my interest in sickly sweet choruses as well as crunchy guitars, a quote from Peter Hahndorf runs through my head: "the true spirit of Punk Rock lives on... in the simple and pure efforts of kids banging out sweet delicious songs on cheap guitars".
I broadcast on CFUV, a local campus/ community radio station located in the University of Victoria's Student Union Building. I can't really tell you much more than that. It's filled with community-minded people doing interesting work and diverse programming. Read the station's site or listen to its programs to learn more.
Are you a musician yourself? Allow me to direct you to the station's music department. CFUV has certain guidlines for submissions. If you want to get your music on the charts, then the Music Department is the way to go!
