[Shirley has compiled quite a large research file on her Brown family descendants.  The file was submitted in print format so in the interests of time, I was able to compile only the first three generations.  If you would like more data on this family, please contact Shirley directly.]

 

Generation No. 1

 

1.  ANN DAGG was born in Tipperary, about 1818.  She married EDWARD1 BROWN, born abt. 1815 in Tipperary.  Their marriage was recorded in the registers for the Diocese of Killaloe.

Generation No. 2

 

2.  JOHN2 BROWN (EDWARD1) was born 1842 in Borrisokane, Tipperary, and died June 22, 1919 in Newport, Victoria, Australia.  He married SARAH HANNAH JORDAN July 01, 1872 in Coburg, Victoria, Aus., daughter of JOHN JORDAN and MARTHA ROBERTS.  She was born October 31, 1848 in Melbourne, Aus., and died May 15, 1919 in Aspendale, Aus..

 

John arrived in Melbourne, Australia in about 1855, and opened up a shoe shop and factory at 25 Cardigan Street, Carlton.  He died of Bright's disease and complications, and is buried along with his wife and 2 sons in Melbourne Cemetery. 

 

Shirley has records of two sisters Sarah and Jane Darcy, who emigrated to Aus. from Borrisokane, Tipperary.  They arrived in Australia on the White Star, in August of 1871, both listing “Servant” as their occupations.  Their mother’s name was listed as Ann Dagg, and their father as John Darcy.  Shirley would love to find out just how or if these two sisters relate to her ancestors Ann Dagg and Edward Brown..

3.  MARTHA3 BROWN (JOHN2, EDWARD1) was born July 07, 1874 in Collingwood, Victoria, Aus., and died September 06, 1958 in Kensington, Victoria, Aus..  She married JAMES MCCLURE August 10, 1897 in Essendon, Victoria, Aus..  He was born August 17, 1873 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
