Tulzscha
Precious little is known about the Outer God named Tulzscha.
That which is known will be displayed here, as well as the rules one must follow in order to remain in Tulzscha's good graces.
- Tulzscha is an Outer God and one of the dancers in the Court of Azathoth.
- As an Outer God, Tulzscha represents one of the primal cosmic forces.
- Some describe the Cosmic Forces with hopelessly simplified classifications such as life and death, chaos and order. The truth is the nature of these cosmic forces, and the Outer Gods that control them are beyond our comprehension.
- Tulzscha is more directly connected to the very movement of the stars and planets. Thus, all Rites and Ceremonies are preformed during equinoxes, solstices, or other astrologically significant times.
- If an essence of Tulzscha, Tulzscha will appear as a pillar of green flame. When this summoning is successful there tends to be a corruption of the earth, quick erosion of nearby stone and the death of nearby plants and animals. Some have mistakenly taken this as a sign of Tulzscha's connection to death and corruptions. However, these things are bound to happen whenever the energies of an Outer God are released by its summoning. The fate of Thyoph is a perfect example of this.
- Tulzscha is currently worshipped in the West Indies, France, Italy and until a little over two centuries ago, Kingsport.
- Earth will be destroyed in a cataclysmic event known only as The Final Dawn will begin. At first we thought this would happen when Tulzscha is finally wholey summoned to Earth. But we have sinced learned that Tulzscha will cause our sun to swell and engulf our planet. But don't start hoarding guns just yet. This event is billions or years away. We will have left the planet long before then.
- Historically, we taught that before this event transpires the worshippers of Tulzscha will meet in a secret location to summon our Star Steeds (also known as Byakhees or Ice Demons) and fly through the icy blackness of space to meet with our Master. There we will live in unspeakable bliss and harmony.
- Contemporary teaching point to a more technological solution. The part about the bliss is still the same.
- The truly devout of the Brotherhood will be granted immortality and live past death.
- It is important to remember when referring to Tulzscha one must never say him, her and especially not it. Those of Priest and higher ranks may say Tulzscha, others must use The Green Flame or simply Master.
- While our cause may have its share of enemies it is important to leave restitution in the hands of Tulzscha. Therefore, no actions maybe taken against our enemies directly or indirectly save bringing them to Tulzscha's attention.
Outer Gods
- A group of near infinitely powerful beings which represent the primal cosmic forces.
- Includes Azathoth, Yog Sothoth, Shub-Niggurath, Nyarlathotep, Tulzscha, Daoloth and Abhoth.
- Have some dealings with the similar group of aliens called Great Old Ones.
- Some feel that these distinctions are artificial and do not accurately represent their true natures.
Azathoth
- The most powerful member of the Outer Gods, said to be the personification of Radioactivity.
- Also known as the Primal Chaos or Daemon Sultan.
- His intellect used to rival his power, but some event (perhaps an inter-dimensional war) caused his mind to be all but destroyed.
- Now he bubbles mindlessly on his throne in the centre of the universe, in a place called The Court of Azathoth.
- In his current state the rest of the Outer Gods, at one time or another, all dance for him. Neither the exact nature of this dance, nor reason for this is not quite clear but it is suspected to prevent him from waking up.
- If Azathoth was to regain consciousness it is expected he would demand the destruction of the universe. Completion of this demand would fall to Nyarlathotep.
- Or perhaps the universe is only just a dream of Azathoth, and if he wakes up it will simply cease to exist.
Nyarlathotep
- The soul and messenger of the Outer Gods, the personification of Telepathic powers.
- Is the messenger of the Outer Gods used to ferry messages between the Outer Gods and the Great Old Ones.
- Also performs other services for the Outer Gods and occasionally the Great Old Ones. But this seemingly lowly status should not create the impression that he is weak. When the time comes it will be up to Nyarlathotep to destroy the Universe, a task he is more than capable of fulfilling.
- Nyarlathotep is also known as the The Crawling Chaos and sometimes the Mighty Messenger and is said to have a thousand different forms which he takes when dealing with certain Lesser Races and/or Cults.
- Has only used a handful of these forms in his dealings with the Earth.
- Many of these forms are worshipped throughout the world. Some examples are: The Black Pharaoh (Egypt), The Floating Horror (Haiti), Bloated Woman (China) Dark One a.k.a Mr.Skin (California and Louisiana), Haunter of the Dark (Australia) and as many as 2 dozen other names.
- A master of magic and technology. Often contacts a chosen person and gives them powerful magics or advanced technology.
- Seems to enjoy watching these people misuse these 'gifts' and ultimately destroy themselves.
- Is sometimes credited with giving mankind the Atomic Bomb.
Shub-Niggurath
- Shub-Niggurath, a.k.a. The Black Goat of the Woods with A Thousand Young, or Shupnikkurat and possibly Ishnigarrab.
- Usually refered to as female, but it might be male, or possibly even hermaphroditic.
- Personification of fertility, but not necessarily birth itself, and certainly not motherhood.
- Thought to live under the surface of Yaddith with her Dhole servants awaiting the return of her husband, Hastur.
- May also live underground beneath Arabia or even at the Court of Azathoth.
- Possibly the most widely spread worship of any being in the Mythos. She is / was worshipped by both Earthly cults, alien civilizations and extra-dimensional beings.
- Served by the a race of lesser beings called the Dark Young.
Yog Sothoth
- Yog Sothoth, a.k.a. Lurker at the Threshold, Ramasekva, Tawil at'Umr and The Beyond One.
- Said to be the personification of Time and Space.
- Father of both Hastur and Cthulhu.
- While it is said Yog Sothoth exists in all places at all times, can only physically manifest under certain circumstances, like when it is summoned.
- To summon Yog Sothoth, one must construct a great stone pillar surrounded by a circle of standing stones. (This circle of standing stones would look much like Stonehenge.)
- There are two main dates that this summoning takes place, Lammas (August 1st) and May Eve (April 30th.) Yog Sothoth may be summoned on other dates, but the success rate will be much, much lower.
- Those who worship Yog Sothoth can gain limited control over time and space, but at a terrible cost. Their souls are binded to Yog Sothoth for all of eternity and nothing, perhaps not even the destruction of the universe, can break that bond.
- A family of cultists by the name Whateleys had a special relationship with Yog Sothoth and the mother gave birth to two sons which were tainted by him to different degrees.
- Worshipped by the Mi-Gos under the name The Beyond One.
Great Old Ones
- Alien beings of immense but limited power.
- Include Cthulhu, Hastur, Glaaki, Yig, among many others.
- Some worship Outer Gods other are worshipped as gods.
- Aided by Lesser Races such as Byakhees.
- Some might try and classify Great Old Ones as in between Outer Gods and the Lesser Races on a power scale / or in some way connected. But this is foolhardy at best and can lead to dangerous assumptions.
Cthulhu
- While not the most powerful of the Great Old Ones, Cthulhu is certainly the most well known.
- Maybe a priest of the Outer Gods Yog-Sothoth.
- Is worshipped throughout the world with particularly large cults in: Haiti, Louisiana, South Pacific, Mexico, the Middle East, Boston and Greenland.
- Sometimes said to be the half-brother of Hastur but this may just be a rumour.
- Some conflict between Cthulhu and Hastur exist, but little is known about it this at the time.
- Currently Cthulhu is trapped under the ocean in his city of R'lyeh.
- While trapped under so much water his great telepathic abilities are blocked. He can now only communicate with his followers through their dreams.
- Followers of Cthulhu and Tulzscha have cool relations right now. But open conflict is more likely than an alliance, or even peace.
Hastur
- Also known as: Kaiwan, Assatur, He Who Is Not To Be Named, The Unspeakable One, among others.
- Has almost as many forms as it has names.
- Connected to Carcosa, the King in Yellow, the Lake of Hali, the Yellow Sign, and for some unknown reasons Shepherds.
- Severed by the interstellar race known as Byakhees.
- Worshipped by a cult called, Brothers of the Yellow Sign (how original.)
- Although worshippers of Tulzscha summon Byakhees there is some animosity between Tulzscha and Hastur.
- There is also greater animosity between Hastur and Cthulhu and between Hastur and Ithaqua.
- It has been said that merely speaking Hastur's name can bring doom to the speaker, but this is mostly likely a tale spread by his worshipers to increase the fear he demands.
Inpesca
- Great Old One thought to currently reside off the coast of South America near the coast of Ecuador and Peru.
- Amorphous blueish black in shape that is without features. No eyes, mouths, tentacles, nothing.
- Size of Inpesca can vary depending on its power. At its peak it covered nearly 8000 square kilometers but currently it covers a few dozen square kilometers.
- Mentioned briefly in the Cthaat Aquadingen.
- Has a certain animousity towards Father Dagon and other Deep Ones.
- They rarely come into conflict but he has been slowly losing the battle with them for eons.
Ithaqua
- Known by many names and thought to originate in many places.
- Names include Wind-Walker, Death-Walker, Wendigo, (or Windigo) and may have some connection to the Yeti.
- While now thought to be confinded to an area stretching from the North Pole to Northern Manitoba, Ithaqua was once able to travel much farther to places like The Leng Plateau in Asia to perhaps even the Middle East.
- Is the basis for the Native Indian folklore and is associated with storms and extreme cold.
- Can walk on air as if it were solid ground and travel through space / dimensions.
- To see Ithaqua spells certain doom, for all those that see him will be taken by him.
- Was once held prisoner by the Elder Gods beneath a plataeu on the world of Borea, which is in a parallel universe.
- Despite this, Ithaqua opinion of Borea is not unfavorably as he sometimes travels there.
- Those that draw Ithaqua's ire are sometimes taken to Borea for weeks or months. Some join his cult Children of the Winds, while others rebel.
- Those taken by Ithaqua are altered so they are unaffected by extreme cold, however normal temperatures may have adverse effects.
- Also, since they have been tainted by a Great Old Ones they can be affected by The Elder Sign and other protective measures designed to work against Great Old Ones.
- Sometimes uses Shantaks as a servitor race.
Juk-Shabb
- A large spherical being that glows with a multi-coloured light.
- Resides on the planet Yekub and is worshipped by its inhabitants, the Yekubians. Very protective of the Yekubians.
- Communicates telepathically with its worshippers.
- At this time there are no known Juk-Shabb cults on Earth.
- However, according to Analysis of Aboriginal Folklore and Myth roughly 13,000 years ago a tribe in Australia worshipped this being for a short time before waging a series of unsuccessful wars with neighbouring tribes.
Lesser Races
- Various Alien races that may or may not serve Outer Gods and Great Old Ones.
- Don't take the term Lesser too literally and think it implies a weakness. Many Lesser Races are godlike compared to humanity and have been worshipped throughout the history of the Earth.
- The term various, on the other hand, should be taken literally. Lesser races have a wide variety of origins, powers, temperaments, etc.
Byakhees
- Describes as not quite bat, not quite bird and not quite insect, but a strange mixture of the three.
- There may be two seperate species named Byakhees or two sub-species of Byakhees, but there is no confirmation of this. What differences may exist between the two is also unknown.
- They are servants of Hastur and are instrumental in many of his rituals.
- Can be summoned as a method of interstellar travel.
- While they can carry a rider great distances in out space, the rider must take percautions to survive in the icy blackness of space. (Space Mead can be used here.)
- Byakhees have an organ in their abdomes called a Hune. This organ allows the Byakhees to travel vast distances in space so quickly that it may appear to be teleportation to some. It is unknown whether this is done through the opening of a wormhole, bending of time and space or if it gives the Byakhee the ability to break the light-speed barrier.
- Several sorcerers through the ages have tried to remove the Hune from a Byakhee and use it to help them travel. As far as we know, none have been successful.
Dark Young
- Spawn and servitors of Shub-Niggurath.
- Very large creatures, bodies that are 12 to 20 feet tall with several large tentacles that stretch 40 feet out of the top of their body. They also have dozens of smaller tentacles. Large mouths on all sides of its body and hoven feet.
- There is rumor of a much larger subspecies that is 50 feet tall. Whether the sited specimen is truly a subspecies, just an aberration or the result of temporary insanity in the eyewitness is unknown at this time.
- Some say they can be mistaken them for trees, but this is only excusable if you are blind. Well, blind, drunk and stupid. ... No, not even then.
- They are only found in forested locations where cultists worship Shub-Niggurath.
- To summon a Dark Young, one must wait till the light of a full moon and then make a blood sacrafice on the alter of Shub-Niggurath. After a period of time, Dark Young will come to feast of the offering. A large sacrafice may be required, (horse or bigger.)
- Have been recently spotted in South Carolina, but we don't know if this means a new Shub-Niggurath cult in the area.
Deep Ones
- Bipedal humanoid fish.
- Have a hierarchal society with human cultists worshiping the Deep Ones, who in turn worship the two largest members which are given the titles Father Dagon and Mother Hydra, who in turn worship Cthulhu.
- Father Dagon and Mother Hydra grow to emmense sizes by consuming vast quantities of food. Conversely, if a Deep One was starved, it would shrink in size.
- A cult of the Deep Ones have existed throughout the history of the human race all across the planet.
- The most widely known cult was the Esoteric Order of Dagon in Innsmouth.
- That cult was destroyed in a government raid in 1928, but they are stil worshipped in many places including Polynesia and isolared locations along the Western coast of South and Central America.
- There are some connections between the Deep Ones and Shoggoths, mainly the former using the latter in some scheme or the other.
Dhole
- Also spelt: Dhol, Doel, Dol and related to the Dreamland beings known as Bholes.
- Act as servitors to Shub-Niggurath.
- Huge worm like creatures that burrow underground. And that's not huge compared to worms, we're talking about several hundred metres long.
- They eat through the crust of planets eventually making them uninhabitable. While it can take centuries for this to happen, if not millennia, once the process has begun it is virtually impossible to stop the Dholes.
- This was the fate of the planet Yaddith and the advanced civilization that lived there. Fortunately for them, they were advanced enough to escape their home and spread through out the nearby star systems.
- At this time there has never been any known Dhole activity on Earth, and no texts dealing with the summoning of them are known to exist on Earth.
- Note: There is another creature called Dhol that lives in the Dreamlands and has no connection to these massive, wormlike, creatures.
Dimensional Shambler
- Tall humanoids that have been described as naked wrinkled apes.
- Live in the same alternate dimension as Yog Sothoth, but do not have any ties to that, or any other Outer Gods.
- Can be easily summoned with an enchanted dagger made of a pure metal. Since there is little limitations on when or where this ritual can take place, Dimensional Shamblers have become a favourite species to summon for many wizards and / or cultists.
- While intelligent, their minds are too alien to communicate with on any meaningful level, so interaction with Dimensionl Shamblers is limited.
- They will sometimes spontaneously appear in our dimension. When they do so, they usually grab one individual and return to their home dimension.
- The purpose of these visits, as well as the exact fate of the individuals taken is unknown at this time.
Flying Polyp
- They get their name from their likeness to a cancerous polyp.
- Can turn invisible, which given their appearance is probably a good thing.
- They also have limited control over the winds.
- First came to Earth, by way of Neptune and Jupiter, from parts unknown around 600 million years ago.
- Builders of great Bassalt towers, the exact nature of which remains a mystery.
- Were involved in a war with the Elder Things and while they was no clear winner, after the war the Flying Polyps gave up any claims on Earth's Oceans.
- Hunted and ate large conical beings, and fought with The Great Race of Yith when the Yith took over the minds of their prey.
- Some say this was the first time Flying Polyps and Yith battled. Others think the Flying Polyps are travelling through space in order to erraticate the species.
- There are some problems with this theory, namely the fact that the Flying Polyps arrived on Earth before The Great Race of Yith.
- However, when dealing with time travelling species like the Yith concepts like, 'first' or 'before' may not be applicable.
- Since their war with the Yith, they have mostly stayed in the subterranean cities while their numbers and power decline.
- During modern times there only a few members of this species left on Earth, and there will be none when the Great Race of Yith make their next appearance.
The Great Race of Yith
- This technologically advanced race have no physical bodies of their own but merely possess whatever bodies they need.
- Arrived on Earth millions of years ago and took over the bodies of the previously simple-minded cone shaped beings.
- These being were previously hunted for food by Flying Polyps, but the Yithians were easily able to defeat the Flying Polyps and drive them underground.
- Yithians use their great mental powers to observe the past. They can also observed the future by performing a mind switch. While in their new body the old mind is asked about it's history and allowed to read at the Yithian Library and meet other time travellers.
- Brothers of the Yellow Sign are instructed by Hastur to find and torture members of the Great Race in order to learn their technological secrets.
- Because of there mutual dislike of Hastur, they are to be considered an ally. Any member of the Brotherhood should help Yithian visitors assimilate into society and, should it become necessary, protect them from the Brothers of the Yellow Sign.
- Protected the Earth from a Yekubian invasion.
- Approximately 50 million years ago the Flying Polyps revolted against the Yithians and destroyed their cities and tried to kill every member of the Great Race. Fortunately, the Yithians had already possessed the minds of the intelligent insects of Earth's future to avoid being destroyed.
Leng Spider
- These large (can grow to nearly 20') purple spiders normally live in the Dreamlands on the Plateau of Leng.
- Have been known to cross over to our dimension through portals of their own volition. But are also occasionally summoned by wizards to serve as guards.
- The intelligent Leng Spiders are highly venomous and build huge webs.
- These webs are used to store prey and eggs, but Leng Spiders are stalkers and ambush hunters.
- A particularly favourite target of the Leng Spiders are the Men of Leng.
- One Leng Spider is rarely dangerous to a well prepared group, but if a recently laid egg sack were to start hatching a whole town could be destroyed before the situation was brought under control.
Mi-Go
- Interstellar race of winged crustacean like beings. Also known as the Fungi from Yuggoth.
- Worship Yog Sothoth under the name The Beyond One.
- Communicate with each other by changing colours.
- Have a variety of forms with a multitude of abilities. Including flying to other interplanetary, interstellar and even interdimentional flight.
- Have a colony on the planet Yuggoth, which may be a trans-Pluto planet or Pluto itself (there is some debate on the subject.)
- The also have seveal lairs on Earth used to collect unknown minerals.
- Like The Great Race of Yith, Mi-Go are hunted by Brothers of the Yellow Sign on orders by Hastur. So consider them allies and help them whenever possible.
- Also like the Great Race of Yith, Mi-go are a technologically advanced race.
- They are masters of surgery and have the abilities to change their physical appearance and attributes.
- They also can create gateways that allow interplanetary, interstellar and interdimentional travel to those that can not do so naturally.
- Probably the most famous Mi-Go device is the Mi-Go Brain Case. With this device a Mi-Go can surgically remove the brain of a being and place it in the Brain Case. Once in the device the being can interact with its environment and travel with the Mi-Go while its body is left in suspended animation. This is only reserved for individuals that are especially well liked, or intensely hated, by the Mi-Go.
Nightgaunts
- Like Shantaks, Nightgaunts live in the Dreamlands, but have been known to travel to Earth and other planets.
- Physically they are humaniod, although thinner. They have black, whale like skin and wings that resemble a bat's. On the top of their heads they have two horns, but lack any facial features.
- In the Dreamlands, Nightguants will avoid humanity whenever possible. But when provoked will carry off victims to strange and / or dangerous places.
- In the Dreamlands this would include the Peaks of Thok or the Vale of Pnoth. On Earth it could include places like the haunted island of Bal Sagoth or certain stone ruins in Australia.
- If the victim fights back the Nightgaunt will tickle them with its tale, or simply drop them if they resist too much.
- Nightgaunts have been known to work with Ghouls as scouts and even as mounts.
- They can be summoned at night, but a stone with the Elder Sign carved on it is required.
- Summoning Nightgaunts require chanting in an alien language. This language is comprised of clicks like those in African Bushmen languages. The main difference is most clicks are made by slapping the tongue on the bottom of the mouth. Also, air is trapped under the tongue and squeezed out to produce sound. Note: The sounds made with that last method are akin to swearing, so it would be best not to use them often.
- The unsual nature, as well as the speed, makes it a difficult language for humans to master. And there is no standard alphabet for this language, nor can it be written in any Earthly language.
- They will even occasionally help humans voluntarily, however, any offer should be regarded with skepticism.
Shan
- Shan, a.k.a. Insects from Shaggai.
- Insects about a foot in height with 10 legs. Like plants, they are photosynthetic in nature.
- Known as powerful wizards and should be treated with the greatest of fear.
- Keep slaves to do menial jobs and to torture for entertainment.
- As their name suggests, they lived on Shaggai. Most Shan were killed when Shaggai was destroyed over 800 years ago.
- The Pnakotic Manuscript mentioned they summoned something terrible and had to imprison it on their planet. This could have led to its destruction.
- Built conical metal temples where they worshipped Azathoth. These temples can teleport, which helped save the lives of many Shan when they planet was destroyed.
- Used these temples to colonize many nearby planets.
- First came to Earth in the Middle-ages, but the composition of our atmosphere prevented the temple from teleporting elsewhere so they have become trapped here.
- Used their psychic abilities to start a cult to Azathoth on Earth, but that cult was wiped out by witch hunters.
- Warning: Recently spotted in Brazil. This activity could be part of the first resurgence since the Middle Ages and should be watched carefully for signs of further developments.
Shantaks
- Shantak are often described as scaly birds, however, they can also be compared to Dragons of Medieval Europe mythology.
- In fact, their ease of summoning may have led to the Dragon mythology.
- A servitor race to both Nyarlathotep and Ithaqua.
- Most commonly seen in the Dreamlands, specifically the Plateau of Leng. But also appear on Earth (either summoned or otherwise.) May also originate from a parallel dimension.
- Like Byakhees, Shantaks can be summoned as a method of interstellar space travel. However, there is a chance that the Shantak will ignore the wishes of the rider and simply carry them to the Court of Azathoth.
- However, since that is where Tulzscha currently resides it shouldn't be a major problem for us.
- Strangely, Shantaks have an irrational fear of Nightgaunts.
Yekubs
- Large centipeded like creatures, well, large for centipedes. About the same size has humans.
- Come from a galaxy far beyond our own.
- Serve a Great Old Ones called Juk-Shabb.
- Extreme aggressive with xenophobic tendencies. They destroyed all other civilizations in their native galaxy wiping out all other species in the process.
- In order to continue their wars, the Yekubians constructed cubes of an unknown crystal which switch the minds of the victim with that of a Yekub Scout.
- For this mind switch to work the cube must be in the pressence of heat and light source.
- These cubes were launched into space and travel faster than light by a method that is not understood at this time.
- They are not targetted at any particular planet, just launched into space at random.
- If the planet is of no interest to the Yekubians, they simply switch minds back with the victim.
- If the planet is of interest, the cube is used to destroy the minds on mass.
- About 150 million years ago one cube landed on Earth. Fortunately the Great Race of Yith recognized the danger and were able to stop the Yekubians' invasion before it started.
Zoogs
- Rodent like creatures that inhabit the Enchanted Woods in the Dreamlands.
- Are intelligent and can understand most human languages. Their language is made up of whistling sounds that may be difficult to master for most people.
- Have have poor image that I feel in unjust. On the many occasions when I've travelled to the Dreamlands I've never had any problems. Of course, I have always taken precautions.
- Always bring something to give to the Zoogs as a gift. Zoogs prefer tools, telescopes, clockwork toys work very well. If you have food, offer to share.
- Avoid the Enchanted Woods at night, and stick to the trails in the day time. The Zoogs will watch you but will not approach you unless invited.
- Be friendly. An angry Zoog can be troublesome, a whole village of angry Zoogs ... well, I'd rather not think about it.
- Zoogs also make an alcoholic like drink called Zoog Juice. Not for the faint of heart, or the weak stomached.
