Richard Dreyfuss, Kurt Russell, and Josh Lucas star. It's New
Year's Eve, and passengers and crew on the luxury ocean liner,
Poseidon, are celebrating. However, the unimaginable happens. A
huge wave comes hurtling toward the ship, crashes into it, and
flips it upside down. A group of passengers, led by Dylan
(Lucas) work tirelessly and relentlessly to reach the bottom of
the ship, in order to access the lifeboats.
The special effects in this film, coupled with the superb
acting, make this movie a joy to watch. It seamlessly brings
together the relationships that the passengers develop with the
disaster and dangers that they face. I would have preferred to
have gotten to know the characters moreso before the wave hit
the ship, rather then after and during their attempts to reach
safety. Since we get to know the characters during the crisis,
it takes away somewhat from the disaster and dangers themselves,
thus making the film feel somewhat rushed. I did enjoy this
movie, and I do recommend it.
