French)
This national event is organized by La fédération
de la jeunesse canadienne-française and sponsored by the
Department of Canadian Heritage. The objectives include enabling young
French-speaking Canadians to meet and exchange ideas and experiences as
well as allowing these French-speaking athletes and artists to compete
at a national level. Les jeux de la francophonie pays for all expenses
related to travel, lodging and meals for the student participants. Ages
include 15-17. Categories include Sports, Arts, Musical Awakening and
Leadership.

Youth International
Internship Program
Offered by the Government of Canada's Youth
Employment Strategy: the Department of Foreign Affairs
and International Trade. For young out-of-school
Canadians who are available for 6-8 months and fit the
eligibility criteria for both the program and a specific

Canadian Government sends
TEENS to QUEBEC
Summer Work/Student Exchange Program is sponsored
by the federal government. It is open to 16-17 year old
students. Teens take the train back to Quebec and then
fly home six weeks later. All expenses are paid and they
even earn minimum wage while working in Quebec.
Students then host a student from Quebec. Students are
only eligible if their MP supports this program. Students
have been selected for the program this summer, but plan
for next year and contact your MP to see if this program
is available.

Looking for Volunteers
French immersion students in grades 11 or 12 (whose
parents are members of the CPF) can volunteer as a
junior monitor at CPF-BC's Youth Conference,
Rencontre Française (annually in May). Students have fun, use
their French
and earn hours to apply to the CAPP programs.
