The
Royal Hudsons, as the semi-streamlined 4-6-4 H1c,d,e came to be
known as after their exemplary service during the 1939 Royal tour of
Canada, shared an exterior styling with Jubilee and later selkirk
class locomotives that came to personify the Canadian Pacific. This
styling was introduced in on the hudsons built in 1937 and carried
through to1940 in three separate batches in total 45 units were
constructed. These locomotives all had 75" drivers. The
locomotive included is CP 2860 a H1e built in 1940 the locomotive is
depicted fitted as it was in 1950's. 2860 was sold to the province of
British Columbia and was restored to main line service in 1975, The
2860 operated on the BCR and on excursions until 1999 and is
currently at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park waiting for funds
for restoration. Money from this package will go towards CP 2860's
restoration fund.
