Lebensohl over a Reverse

After a reverse, 2NT by responder is artificial showing a weak hand { 5-7pts } wanting to stop in a 3-level part score if opener has minimum reverse values.

2NT forces opener to bid 3C, enabling responder to sign off at the 3 level. Opener can and should bid more than 3C when he is too good to allow responder to pass 3C. i.e.more than 16-18 pts.

Any other response other than 2NT is natural, constructive, and forcing.

If the reversing partner bids anything else besides 3C after the transfer, he is showing extra strength (beyond that of the basic reverse), and it is forcing.

After a 2D reverse over 1C opener and 1 of a major response then the unbid major becomes lebensohl. Responder can never play in 2S after partner reverses.

Example 1C-1S-2D-2S would show 8 + HCP .To sign off in Spades you must bid 2NT then 3S over 3C.

Reverse after a 1NT response by partner. LEBENSOHL IS ON.
