Thank you for expressing an interest in the driving programs offered
by Comox Valley Driving School. We have been in the Comox Valley for
over 20 years, providing top notch defensive driving habits to many
of the new driver's of our community. Our instructors are ICBC certified to conduct the GLP training program. Students must possess a valid Class 5 Learner's permit or Class 7 Learner's Permit prior to any in car lessons. Study the "Road Sense for Drivers" manual which is available at all Driver Services Centres. Following is a list of the various programs we offer. Prices include HST.
It consists of 20 hours of theory and 12 hours in-car. This program cuts the waiting time on the Novice Licence down from 2 years to 1 1/2 years (18 months). The driver must successfully complete a GLP-approved course in the
learner stage, demonstrate safe driving attitudes and behaviours and
have no violations (tickets) or at-fault crashes during the first
18 months of the novice stage. There are six classroom sessions of 3 hours each, plus a 4 hour highway drive of which 2 hours are driving and 2 hours observation. Other than the highway drive, all in car lessons are either one hour or two hour sessions. Classrooms (See schedule) are held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm - 9:15 pm at the St. John Ambulance Centre, 107-1742 Cliffe Ave., Courtenay. Payments may be made in installments so long as the last payment is paid one month prior to finishing the program. A payment of $299 must be paid on first contact. Cost of the course is $725.00. 10 Lesson Package Student may either have 9 hours of training and one hour for the use of our car for the road test, or 10 hours of training and use their own vehicle for the road test. Cost is $481.36 + $65.64 HST = $547.00 Payments may be made in installments so long as the last payment is paid two weeks prior to finishing the program. A payment of $179.00 must be paid on first contact. 6 Lesson Pkg Student may either have 5 hours of training and one hour for the use of our car for the road test, or 6 hours of training and use their own vehicle for the road test. Cost is $295.68 + $40.20 HST = $335.00 Payments may be made in installments so long as the last payment is paid two weeks prior to finishing the program. A payment of $150.00 must be paid on first contact. Class 5 Refresher Student may either have 2 hours of training and one hour for the use of our car for the road test, or 3 hours of training and use their own vehicle for the road test. Cost is $166.32 + $22.68 HST = $189.00 Single lessons Consists of one hour of in-car training. Cost is $54.20 + $7.80 HST = $65.00/hour In car lessons are conducted one-on-one with the instructor, except for the highway drive in the GLP program. There may also be the rare occasion where two students may be in the car for pickup and drop off purposes. Refunds will be paid on incomplete lessons based on the amount already collected minus the regular cost of the amount of single lessons ($65.00 incl HST). Incomplete classroom time is non-refundable. Lessons may be rescheduled or canceled by 6:00pm of the evening prior to the lesson. Students will be assessed a $20.00 administrative fee for any missed in-car lessons. This fee MUST be paid to the instructor at the next lesson. There are no exceptions. Please remember, we all like to get paid for our time and the instructors are no exception.
