Senior/Competitive
Program
Senior skaters will
have passed a full prelim test and are working
on Jr Bronze levels or greater.
They will be
working on the StarSkate Intermediate/Senior
Level Tests or Competitive Tests (Juvenile,
Pre-novice, Novice, Junior or Senior).
Skating
elements include: single, double and triple
jumps, double combination jumps, combination
spins, complex footwork and dance.
Lessons for
these skaters are typically private (with
professionally certified Skate Canada Coaches)
but are sometimes conducted in small groups
depending on the Coach.
When not in a lesson,
these skaters are working on their own.
These programs develop figure skating skills in
all 4 disciplines: Skating Skills, Ice Dance,
Free Skate and Interpretive.
Skaters are taught
by a Skate Canada NCCP Certified Coach.
Each
program offers skaters the opportunity to take
test through Skate Canada’s nationally
standardized testing system.
Skaters may also
enter a variety of competitions from “fun”
recreational events to competing at regional and
national levels.
Private coaching is highly recommended once the
skater has reached this level.
These skaters
have passed their Senior Bronze Freeskate
(maximum of 24 skaters per session).
Test Days will be scheduled this season to
enable skaters in the “StarSkate Program” to be
evaluated on Freeskate, Dance, Skills,
Interpretive and Competitive Tests.
Coaches are
informed, in advance, of these scheduled “Test
Days” and will communicate with the skaters as
to what is being tested. Arrangements are made
to have SKATE CANADA Evaluators attend to
evaluate the skaters. The test day schedule is
yet to be determined, and will be posted at the
beginning of the season.
