Intermediate Program
Your skater’s hard work and diligence in the
Canskate and Junior programs has prepared them
for this next step in the sport of figure
skating. They are now part of Skate Canada’s
Star Skate program and will focus on all areas
of figure skating (free-skate, dance, skills)
with a coach in an individual or semi-private
lesson. They will be working towards earning
Skate Canada tests in these disciplines as well
as continuing to showcase their skills at
competitions throughout the season.
Preliminary level testing includes elements such
as: single jumps, 1 foot spin, camel spin, sit
spin and dance. Junior Bronze level testing
includes elements such as: single axel, flying
camel and beginner double jumps, single
combination jumps and combination spins,
footwork and dance. Lessons for these skaters
depend on the needs of the skater and can either
be private or group. All lessons are with a
certified Skate Canada Coach. These skaters are
working on Preliminary Tests. (maximum of 24
skaters per session). Private coaching is
recommended once the skater has reached this
level.
Test Days will be scheduled this season to
enable skaters in the “StarSkate Program” to be
evaluated on Freeskate, Dance, Skills,
Interpretive and Competitive Tests. Coaches are
informed, in advance, of these scheduled “Test
Days” and will communicate with the skaters as
to what is being tested. Arrangements are made
to have SKATE CANADA Evaluators attend to
evaluate the skaters. The test day schedule is
yet to be determined, and will be posted at the
beginning of the season.
