I suspect that with the huge spaces and few people that much of Northern BC can be used nude without seeing anyone else, let alone offending them. Nevertheless, Near Heaven Llama Trekks is worthy of note since they approve of and even encourage nude hiking.

Usage changes over time. I encourage you to use discretion in locating

Prince George Area.
PRINCE GEORGE: Mud River -- No nude
use.
"This location on Mud River is fabulous. There are a few people who use it
on a regular basis. Just be a little discreet!"
[Anonymous, May 2004]
Directions: About 20km west of Prince George, turn right onto Lower
Mud River Road. Continue about 3km to a bridge over Mud River and turn left
onto the side road. Park and walk upriver for about 200m in the river or using
the trail on the left.
Update: "I would strongly
recommend to withdraw the Lower Mud River as a destination for nudists. Reasons:
1) The note is misleading and is providing guidance and encouragement for people
to trespass on private property land owners (not a safe place for nudists).
2) In response to local demand from the public, the actual beach (and adjacent
area) located to the West of the bridge is about to become the responsibility
of the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts under the Recreation Site Management
program and I believe this will make a very unpopular site for the nudists.
As well, because of the history of the site there will most probably be more
control and RCMP patrols for this area.
3) Eastside of the bridge is all private lands and owners are firm/aggressive
at keeping people away from their lands.
There are other important reasons which I believe is not worth my time mentioning
for now." [Mikel Leclerc, Prince George/Mackenzie District Recreation
Officer, Mar 2008]
Update: "I visited this location twice during trips
to and from Smithers, B.C. The first visit was in August 2008, the second
on August 2, 2009. My first visit was on a weekday and the weather was nice,
but not overly warm. My 2009 visit was on a Sunday afternoon, with temperatures
in the mid-30s Celsius. In neither instance, did I see any evidence of nude
use. There was no one there in 2008, and about 40-50 people there in 2009,
mostly families with children and a few young couples. Nice sandy spot, shallow
water and gentle current. I could see definite evidence of the area being
a late-night party place as some garbage was strewn about as well as several
empty beer bottles and cans. I could also see that some campfires had been
lit and put out. There is private residential property almost immediately
adjacent to this area. You may be able to use the area nude on a warm weekday
if no one else is about but I'm not sure that it could be generally considered
a good place to be nude." [Ray Jorritsma
Director, Prairie Region, Federation of Canadian Naturists, Aug 2009]
PRINCE GEORGE: Wood Spirits Resort
-- Under construction.
"i am now building a nude-only site resort 30 minutes from downtown Prince
George on a small mountainside with a beautiful view to the western mtountains.
It will have a small trout-stocked lake with a sandy beach. It will have a
log sauna and a log cabin. It will have many trails into the crownland to hike
on. The lake will go to 25 feet deep. Email me if you would be interested in
joining so I know if this retreat will be sustainable as a nudist resort or
must I use this site for another purpose. I will return any emails I recieve.

Directions: This site is in the hills of the Pineview area, southeast
of Prince George. Directions will follow when the resort is complete if enough
interest is taken. The site may be rented out privately if there is not enough
interest as a naturist resort.
Update: The supplied email address doesn't appear to be functional any
more, so I have to wonder if this resort will ever materialize. [Sept 2006]
Update: "It seems that our email was not working. We believe it will
work now." [Gerry, Dec 2006]
DUNSTER: Motherland Inn B&B -- Closed.
The owner has confirmed that the business is closed (or at least non-naturist).

Mackenzie Area.
MACKENZIE: Near Heaven Llama Trekks.
Based in Mackenzie, which is north of Prince George, Near Heaven conducts hiking
expeditions for small groups (maximum 4) into the Omineca Mountains, the
Spatsizi Wilderness, and other destinations. Llamas carry all the supplies
for "a luxuriously catered holiday."
The Omineca Mountain trips are specifically listed as clothing-optional, but
the brochures imply that clothing is optional on other trips, weather (and
bugs) permitting. Be sure to inquire before booking. August is the best time
for nude hiking, because bugs (as well as the temperature) are at their best.
According to owner Deiter Dittrich, "most hikers eventually try hiking in the
nude when the weather and insects are co-operative. ... Some of our guides
will gladly hike nude, while others are still warming up to it."

Note: This is an old listing, but the company still appears on tourism
websites. I haven't had any luck with their own website www.nearheaven.com. [Bill,
