Great Wall of China
Back to Main PageOn July 26, 2001, I was fortunate to travel to the Great Wall of China.
Here are a few images from "the Wall." The young lady in red is Zheo Jin Ting, who was a most capable guide and interpreter.
This was my fifth trip to China (See images) and I have flown over the Great Wall several times while flying between Beijing and Harbin in Heilongjiang Province. I always wanted to see the Great Wall up close and am grateful for the opportunity.
The Great Wall in the tourist section (where we visited) is reconstructed and there were lots of tourists. But still, it was a thrill to visit. The Great Wall is steeped in history and an engineering marvel. It's also steep--as in, uphill. The surrounding hills and low mountains just North of Beijing are beautiful.
If you ever get to Beijing, the "wall" is a must see.
