A thriller made into a successful movie (perhaps unique in managing to follow closely the book it was based on), this novel is exciting throughout. The level of tension apparent is similar to that in the movie, as strange events start occurring upon the excavation and exploration of a huge space ship which appears to have come from the future.
Micheal Crichton casts suspicion on every member of the crew alternately as the story line progresses. A large sphere inside the ship appears to hold the answers behind the mysterious happenings of the underwater research lab, but why and how are the answers that must be found to save the lives of the intrepid researchers.
This book is an exceptional example of Micheal Crichtons suspense, psychological thriller type of writing. A good mystery book.
