This is honestly a great book. For some reason, some people decided it would be a good idea to send Douglas Adams (a science fiction comedy writer, as he himself claims) on a trip with a zoologist (Mark Carwardine) out to search for endangered animals. The result is that you suddenly realize that all other books about searching for animals have a certain format, which this one doesn't follow at all. Actually, the book is more about how the journey went, the things they had to do in all these places, and what's being done about the animals, rather than about the actual animals themselves.
I'm quite a fan of Douglas Adams and his novels (with the possible exception of Mostly Harmless), and I add this to the number of terrific things he's written.
