Birth of a Foundation

The Birth Of The Martin Family Foundation

The Directors/Incorporators of the Martin Family Foundation sincerely believe that the funding and sustaining of the Foundation should be such as to make every family member, regardless of age and socio-economic standing, feel proud to be an integral part of its formation, existence and continuing growth whether or not that participation is individually or collectively - for example through fund raising measures.

In order to accomplish the above, each member of the family is invited to become a full fledged active and participating member of the Foundation, by making a financial contribution of his or her choice on behalf of themselves and / or on behalf of any other family member or members of their immediate family regardless of his or her age.

Foundation Launch Report October 3, 2008

The long awaited Martin Family Foundation Launch finally came to pass, after a couple of cancellations, on October 3, 2008 under the patronage of Their Excellencies President Max Richards and Dr. Jean Ramjohn-Richards 4th generation family members and Charter members of the Martin Family reunion Committee.

Also in attendance was our Family Matriarch Floris Walrond (4th) who was pleasantly surprised with a birthday cake in celebration of her 90th birthday as well as the 74th birthday of her twin brothers Selwyn and Claude Lee Young and their cousin Kenneth Martin. Unfortunately the last two honorees were unable to attend.

A Power Point presentation by Wilbur Walrond gave a much briefer that originally intended re-cap of the Foundation's journey from that first landmark Family Reunion held on August 30, 1992 to it's finally launching on October 3, 2008. (See the Presentation on our website)

Forty-Six Charter Members of the Martin Family Foundation were recognized with commemorative Certificates by His Excellency Cousin Max Richards (4th) and Matriarch Floris Walrond (4th) for their financial contribution to the Foundation which now stands at just under $100,000 and we are indeed very grateful to these members for their support and leadership.
