This is a curious collection of tracks on two CDs are from a from a number of Chieftains albums primarily released on their RCA/BMG label and one track from the Claddagh label. It was released as a special promotion and sold through a commercial on American and perhaps Canadian television from 1999 to sometime during 2001. It was also available, at one time, for purchase on the internet.
This collection provides a nice selection of Chieftains recordings in the late 80s into the 90s without the heavy star power that was present on many of their albums. It is a nice cross-section of their work showing concert, orchestra, and film work. The selections were taken from the following RCA/BMG albums: A Chieftains Celebration, An Irish Evening, Celtic Wedding, Another Country, Santiago, Film Cuts, Bells of Dublin, and Celtic Harp. Cotton-Eye Joe, the lone Claddagh released track on disc 2, is from Chieftains 10.
