This is the first outing for the group that would become known as The Chieftains. Paddy Moloney, a member of Seán O'Riada's folk orchestra, Ceoltoiri Cualann, invited several other musicians to make a one time album for Garech Browne's fledgling Claddagh record label. They formed The Chieftains in 1962 at the home of Paddy Moloney. The above album cover is from the Shanachie and Island releases. The original Claddagh album cover featured the artwork above with The Chieftains emblazoned in black and orange along the bottom.
