Blogging is not my strong suit. Every couple of years I make a comment.
GeoCities had some minor technical difficulties, which unfortunately resulted in a loss of some information from that site. Well, actually, all. Some of my pages still appear there (mostly out of loyalty -- ten years and strong with GeoCities), some here, some at Tripod. Who knows -- maybe some day I'll get around to getting my own full site. I just can't bring myself to pay for it. ;)
That's it for now!
Seriously, folks, what does this tell you? I update the site itself, but I'm notoriously bad when it comes to updating the main page. All the actor sites have been updated with the most current information.
In light of some of the e-mails I've received lately, there's something I feel I really need to point out -- I do not have any connection to these actors. If I know what they're doing, it's on the page. I'm simply a fan like everyone else who happens to like making web pages.
That said, I'm briefly considering mini-pages again. I did them at one point, a quick and easy look at actors, but got rid of them years ago. So it's something that's kind of being deliberated.
That's it for now!
Welcome to the newly re-designed Unplugged pages. These pages have been up since 1996, and so far have undergone a few modifications, but this is by far the most radical change. Sooner or later I plan on switching all the pages in the site over to new formats (I'm hoping to vary the formats, though, as sameness is dull after awhile).
Now, many of you recognize the face adorning the page, but you will not find a Colin Farrell site within the Unplugged collective. He's a fabulous actor, but there are already so many pages out there dedicated to him that I wouldn't want to even try. When I originally started the page, my goal was to promote some of the lesser known talents out there. Of course, there are some more well-known stars included, but that is because I'm a fan.
A little history on the site...it originally started off back in mid-1996, and at the time, the main actor featured on the page was Nicholas Lea. At the time, he was still relatively unknown...he had done a few guest shots on The X Files, but didn't have nearly the fan following he has now. I couldn't find much on him on the Internet, so I made a page for him. The next actor who went up was Cameron Bancroft...who had absolutely no fan pages that could be found at the time. I still have yet to find anything with more than a couple of pictures and some general biography information.
At the same time, I started up sections of the page that, for one reason or another, were discontinued. Lost actors include Jake Busey, David Duchovny, John Cusack, Nicolas Cage, Kiefer Sutherland, Ivan Sergei, and Paul Rudd. The Duchovny page lasted the longest, being discontinued in mid-2002. It wasn't that I stopped liking the actors...it was just that some had huge pages set up already, and the ones who didn't (namely Ivan Sergei and Jake Busey) there was so little available that I just gave up.
Started shortly thereafter but still on the page are Dean Cameron and Frank John Hughes. I searched the 'Net for information on both, with no success. I began the Frank John Hughes page in October of 1997, and at the time, there were no sites dedicated to this actor, who had previously had only bit parts. None of the sites I currently know of are still updated. Dean Cameron was going up around the same time...for purely selfish reasons. Dean Cameron was my first actor crush, way back when I was still young enough to get crushes on celebrities. And since the only page I could find was his official website, up he went.
Around this time, I discontinued some of the smaller pages, and turned three of the smaller sections into full-fledged listings...actresses Carrie Genzel and Téa Leoni, and (at the time) up-and-coming actor Matthew Lillard. All three were created in mid-1996, but had always been minor sections of the page. A good move, as it turned out...the Matthew Lillard and Téa Leoni sections are the most popular parts of the page! The Carrie Genzel page can be best known as the first page for this up-and-coming young actress, and (a strange coinky-dink here) the only one I know of that has been updated since 1998. Also, a section that had previously been relatively ignored on Charlie Schlatter received a massive overhaul, again primarily because there was nothing else out there on him at the time.
The most recent entries to the page are all 'lesser known' actors for one reason or another, and with one exception, they're all actors that are relatively unknown outside of Canada. Vincent Corazza, Jonathan Rannells, and Gabriel Hogan are all Canadian bred, and none of the three have ever made the big leagues in the States, but all are recognizable in their native country. Dalton James, the lone American, is a truly undervalued gem in the acting profession, and one who I can truly say I would watch in anything.
I may, in the future, re-open the concept of 'minor stars'. Namely because there are a bunch on my list of favorites who appear very little, and who I don't know enough about to be able to create a suitable webpage for. But who knows...if the urge strikes me, I may add information on some of my favorite lesser-knowns, like Dean Tarrolly, John Hopkins, Mark A. Sheppard, Dean Armstrong, or Clarence Gilyard, Jr. Who knows. *LOL*
That's it for now!
