Chad Northeast's Precision Aerobatics Page

Well, the reason for this page is simple! There really is no good source for people to at least grab a bit of info about electric F3A models, and I figured that since I have been flying them for two years now I would share a bit of what I have learned. A lot of this is obviously going to be specific to the setup that I use most.

What motor should I choose?

Oh well, there are so many options today. The first thing you need to consider is in-runner or out-runner. Pro's and Con's to each one! My observations are such....
In-runner - Less draw from batteries for same prop/rpm combination, more noise, require gearbox maintenance, fewer prop combinations without changing gearbox ratio or motor wind
Out-runner - Higher draw from batteries for same prop/rpm combination, very quiet, virtually no maintenance (bearings are a possibility), usually able to run a wide range of props effectively, more difficult to cool properly
