Northern BC Therapeutic Riding & Animal Assisted Therapy

An Education & Training Program that supports Therapeutic Riding & Animal Assisted Therapy programs in the Cariboo & Northern BC.

Goals of the NBCTR & AAT:

-Network programs for shared benefits.
-Host Workshops; bringing in coaches, certified instructors and facilitators from provincial and national organizations.
-Offer training at the CHAAPS facility (Pen-Y-Bryn Farm) for Horse/Riding Programs and Dog Programs.
-Support the certification and training of our CHAAPS Instructors, Staff and Volunteers.
-Liaison with BCTRA and CanTRA to help connect our area of the province with these organizations.
-Support programs in the areas of; Business Development for private and non-profit groups, Program Development and Instructor Training. 
-Support Professional Development by providing education and research on the benefits of TR & AAT to professionals such as; Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Professionals, Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, etc.

Therapeutic Riding –An Introduction to CanTRA Certification

Seminar & Workshop on Animal Assisted Therapy -AAT

PROFESSIONAL SEMINAR -How Animals Can Help Reach Those Who are Hardest to Reach
A presentation for Health Care Professionals on the researched and evidenced benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy (including Therapeutic Riding).  Learn the foundational theories of the animal mediums, evidenced benefits and case examples. Discover ideas of how to incorporate and refer to the medium of AAT.

INSTRUCTOR/FACILITATOR WORKSHOP -Animal and Equine Assisted Therapeutic Practice Training

Two-day workshop for instructors and facilitators working in all fields of Animal Assisted Therapy and Equine Assisted Therapy programs (including Therapeutic Riding). Understand the standards and guidelines of the professional practice in the field of AAI. Working with animals in general will be addressed (including dogs and farm animals) but will primarily focus on working with horses. Role playing and demos will be done for hands-on work.

Biography
Eileen Bona M.Ed. is a Registered Psychologist and the designer of Western Canada’s first college-accredited course in Animal Assisted Therapy. She is currently the Chair for the National Task Force on developing standards for Animal Assisted Therapy and has designed the first Master’s level Canadian certificate in Animal Assisted Therapy to be offered in a Canadian University. Eileen has
