History of Service / Bio

 CWO Louis Duchesne, CinC, MMM, CD 2, joined the Canadian Forces in April 1976 in La belle Province de Quebec. After his basic training and second language courses in St-Jean, he was sent as an OJT on attached posting to Toronto Staff College before his basic cooking course in Borden in March 1977.  Then he was posted to Calgary with 1PPCLI and after a tour of duty in Cyprus in 1978, he was posted to Comox in 1979 until 1981. At that time, he took a period away from the service to work with different civilian organisations for 7 months than rejoined the CF in 1982 with the 2R22R in Quebec City. After getting promoted to Mcpl and a second tour of duty in Cyprus in 1987, he was posted to Base Borden until 1989 then promoted to the rank of Sgt and transfer to Baden in Germany with the 3RCR.

From there, he went on the first UN mission to deploy in Eastern Europe country, which was in Croatia in 1992. Upon his return he was transferred to the base in Baden until the base closure in early 1993. He went back to Borden and did a fourth tour of duty but this time in the sunny Golan Height.  In August 1995, after being promoted to the rank of WO, he was posted to Longue-Pointe (Mtl) for a few months then in St-Hubert until the base closure in 1997.  From there, he was posted to St-Jean, got through the ice storm of 1998 then promoted to the rank of MWO and posted in 1999 to 5CMBG HQ as G4Foods. He took part in another mission in 2001 after a few days following the attack of Sept 11 on the world trade centre. Upon his return from Bosnia in March 2002,  he was promoted to his actual rank and transferred as the manager of food service for Garrison Valcartier and the Citadelle. In July 2004, he was transferred to Winnipeg as A4 Foods Svcs and Air Log Branch CWO with 1Cdn Air Div in Winnipeg. From 2007 to 2010 he held the position of Senior Functional Advisor, Food Services Facilities and Equipment, Directorate CWO and Assistant Co-Advisor for the Cook Occupation. In 2010 he was transferred to his actual position as the CF Ethic CWO. In July 2011, he retired from the CF and accepted a position as CF Food Services Analyst - Infrastructure and Equipment.


CWO Duchesne is married to Carole and has two 18 yrs olds boys which are twins and born in Lahr, Germany in 1992 (Dérick and Maxime). He enjoys travelling and doing activities with his family and he is an avid Colorado Avalanche Hockey fan.
