Hello
everyone and welcome
to this months issue of the CF Cooks
web site newsletter. The
Remembrance month of November seemed fitting to publish this issue. Due to the fact that Sep & Oct were very busy months for
our family I was unable to put anything together until now, and figure
with Christmas fast approaching I'd better get one out now or it won't
be until next year! We're celebrating
our 9th month of the web sites operation. With
now 209 registered members and over
18,000 visits in the first 9 months!
I’m thrilled
that the site is flourishing so well.
Every time I think it’s starting to loose momentum, something
spikes a lot of renewed interest. Although the rate of new members has slowed to a trickle, the
daily visits to the site remain fairly constant. Even so, 209 cooks registering to the site in 9 short months
are nothing short of amazing! Thanks
for everyone’s support.
Our visit stats
are impressive. Click the icon
to view complete details of our site stats. We’re still getting and
maintaining over 1300 visits per month.
It’s nice to see that we have such a loyal following already. If anyone has checked the geo stats lately, they’ll notice
we’ve had visitors from around the world now.
And we still have a regular from the US. Which I do believe is John McDonald living in Texas!
If so, thanks for your continued interest John.
Speaking of Stats, our Guest book is very popular as well. Since
inception and including our old guest book we've received 315
entries.
Assuming the term Chefs Forum might have been a slightly misleading I've
renamed it to it's original identifier, Message
Boards. in hopes to get more input and participation.

Retirements ~
Just the ones I've been told about. I've not received any
retirement notices since August. Please visit the Message
Board for details on previous and recent retirements.

~Memoriam
~
Sadly,
more cooks have joined the advance party in the past month. We’ve
had unfortunate news since the August newsletter.
We lost Ernie Pye, Norman MacDonald and Rossiter Kelland, that
I’m aware of.
Not one of the favourable parts of the site, but I have noticed
that we have been getting the word out to many who may not have been
aware of the passing of these fine gentlemen. So a good thing comes of
gloom.
Our condolences to the families of our passing brothers in trade.
Many thanks, and a huge thank you to those who have provided me
with details on the recent passings.
Please click here
for more information on the passing of our fellow cooks.
Anyone having more details about these gentlemen, or any other cooks that have
passed on, please forward them to cfcooks@shaw.ca
so I can add them to the Memoriam page and honour them properly.

Ramblings!
It
would be great to see more participation/input from those still serving.
Considering our own DND Food Services site is (to be politically
correct) less than desirable.
Seriously, the last update on the D Foods public site was 24 Feb
05, 2 days prior to the launch of our site.
With the benefit of today’s technology, this is a highly useful
tool in promoting morale and easily keeping everyone impersonally
informed.
Unfortunately, it’s not better utilized.
Some
other intentions for our site was to widely disseminate information.
Thanks to many of you who’ve sent and added your local events
for the site.
This is great for those retired and wanting to participate in
events or special occasions put on by local/unit Food Services.
Anyone wanting to let others know of an event simply email me the
particulars and I’ll be happy to post it on the site.

Now
here's a piece of history from our trade! It's been posted on the
main photo page for over a month now, but we've not had anyone recognise
any of these cooks from 1941. If anyone has any information on the
cooks in this photo, please let us know! It can viewed in a larger
format by visiting it here.
Surely someone knows these fellows.
Got an old picture, or even a new one you'd like to post and
share. Send them to CFCooks@shaw.ca
and I'll put them on the photo page on your behalf.
