Recruit training April 1977 to July 77,
(7717). QL-3 course (7707) 22 weeks of fun and frolic with such
notables as Ralph Murphy, Vern Nash, Kenny Collette, George Penal,
Felix Bussman to name just a few.
Then posted to CFS Churchill
Manitoba, where I could do little damage. There I ran into Mike
Barner, Jack Nantais, Mike Mason, Kevin Hustain. The Station closed
in July that year and I was sentenced to 6 years in Shilo Manitoba
which turned out to be the best part of my career, 2 of my children
were born in Brandon, Diane and I were very happy there. There
were some interesting people there as well. Lou Phaneuf, Tom Pratt,
Rollie Durnford, Jerry LaLonde, Bobby Lund, Ron McGrath to mention a
few.
In 1984 I was posted to CFB
Shearwater, while there I worked for Mickey Hargraves, Ben St
Croix, The Famous Tom Carew and Peter Bourgeois, I lasted 6
Months there before being sent to Sea in Jan 1985. The HMCS
Preserver welcomed me with open arms, I spent 3 years on Board
worked with Rick Milbrat & Earl Sweeney and PO1 JP
Arsenault.
I was promoted to Sgt in 1987 and
posted to the HMCS Protecteur after 3 years there I went to CFB
Halifax for a couple of years. Then I was posted to the HMCS
Algonquin for a year then to HMCS Athabaskan for a year. I was
promoted to PO1 in 1995 and went on board the HMCS Nipigon, till the
summer when I was sent to St Johns Newfoundland for a couple of
years.
In 1997 I was posted back to Halifax
to take the HMCS St John's on Nato deployment we were not back home
long when we sailed again for another 6 month Nato and after that a
host of long deployments. A fast busy 3 years. Then I was posted
ashore to manage CFB Shearwater, a little better then the last time
I was there.
In Jan 02 I was promoted to CPO2 and
went to work in CFB Halifax as the Area Chief, I worked with CPO1
John Shields, CPO2 Jim Barron and CPO2 Ray Bedard. In June 2004
I was posted to my present position on Board HMCS Preserver. I
Should mention; as this was my first Ship I'm sure it will be my
last as well.
In 07, promoted to CPO! and posted to
CFB Esquimalt as D/B Food Services Officer
