History of Service / Bio

Joined the CF in 1970 as an Infantryman with 2 PPCLI in Winnipeg .

Re-mustered to cook in 1973, with my first posting in 1974 to CFS Holberg, BC.

Then in 1977 as a new MCpl l was off to my first Ship, HMCS Kootenay in Victoria .

In 1979 l made a big move across the harbour to join the Mine Sweeper Sqn, for the next 2 yrs as Snr Cook on the Miramichi, Fundy and Chaleur.

In 1981 l was posted as a new Sgt to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse Royal Canadians in Calgary , Officers and WOs & Sgts kitchens.

In 1983 I was posted to CFB Kingston, first to the Officers and then McNaughton’s.

In 1985 l was off to the Golan for 6 months, as 2 IC Food Svcs. Upon my return in 1986, l was posted across the street to the 1st Canadian Signals Regt as the 2IC Food Svcs and as Log Pl Troop WO.

In 1990 l was again posted back to sea as the PO1 on HMCS Restigouche.  In 1991 we were armed and ready to head to the Gulf, but we won the booby prize and became the first West Coast Ship to do a NATO.

In 1993 l finally got my posting to FS&S Trg Coy, CFSAL, Borden as IC Advance Cooking and later IC Cook Trg.

This was a great posting, with some outstanding instructors and staff.

In Dec 1996 l was promoted to CPO2 and a posting back to sea.  l decided that it was time to retire and move to Callander with Denise, who was retiring under the FRP with 24 yrs.  This we did during the summer of 1997, with my retirement date as of Apr 1998.

I joined the Res in 1999 as the KO for 26 Svc Bn and 33 Bde HQ C/Cook 2000-2004.  Presently l am the KO for The ALQ R / 26 Svc Bn in North Bay , On.  For the last 2 summer’s l have returned to Borden as a Crse Director at the FS Cadre.  Working again with some top notch instructors and staff.

Life is Very Good !
