History of service / Bio (please be somewhat
detailed)
Wow, long ways back. It is
true that time flies, must be due to having the privilege of serving
with some truly outstanding men and women, chefs, soldiers, sailors
& airforce all proud to be in uniform and serving our country.
A great adventure, with many still pursuing & achieving their
dreams.
Lets see - grew up in Portage La Prairie, MB and signed the doted line
10 Dec 1970 at Winnipeg.
Joined as a cook and of course land Element, read Army, like there was
any other real choice!
After basic and trade training I was posted to the 3 RCHA in Shilo,
MB, 1971 - 1977. Fabulous first posting, large unit, large base,
lots of young chefs just getting a feel for the trade and the
challenges ahead, lots of laughs, lots of hard work. Went to
CCUNEFME after the Yom Kipper War, Nov 74 - May 75. Met Nancy in
Shilo and got married and we were posted to Masset on the QCI.
Masset 1997-1980, First daughter born, Tanya - promoted to MCpl
Calgary 1980 - 1984, 1 Field Ambulance, Second daughter born, Angela -
promoted to Sgt
Edmonton 1984 - 1988, Edmonton Officers' Mess, Combined Mess, H-15,
A/Deputy Foods, Both sons born, Matthew & Eric - promoted to WO
Wainwright 1988 - 1992, Wainwright, on continuous exercise starting
with RV 89 and ending with RV 92 - promoted to MWO, then to CWO
Calgary 1992 - 1994, Base Foods CWO
Ottawa 1994 - 1997 , Career Manager, Cook 861
Edmonton 1997-1999 - Garrison Edmonton Food Services CWO
I said earlier that I had the privilege of working with some truly
outstanding people, man, we were blessed with real rockers and
rollers. Our trade and our tradespeople were second to none and there
is no one who can look down their long nose at us as a group. I
am proud of what we as a trade accomplished and the respect that
everyone earned, contributed to the reputation that the trade now
enjoys. Even better are great things that I hear our present
"Chefs" are continuing to accomplish. Well done and
enjoy the adventure. |
