Welcome to “Captured In Stone”
Perhaps it is the elegant simplicity that I love so much about
a free-flowing form: the way the negative spaces give it movement
and interest, like a dance with grace.
The "Birds in flight"
series is all about movement and nice round curves.
My Metis husband and I enjoy the aboriginal spiritual nature
of his heritage and the great teachings of Yoga, which have influenced my life and of course
how I view it.
Creating fine art sculpture is a wonderful journey
of discovery, I love the feeling when creativity is flowing,
“It's like having a great creative energy dance through
me”.
Kayaking along the west coast of North America over many years
has given me many wonderful experiences in the wilderness
and the wonder of nature. Just what could be more inspiring
than that?
I have worked with many types of wood and stone, and have carved
everything from realistic busts of family members to realistic
birds & animals, progressing to stylized animals and abstract.
(See my sister website www.capturedinwood.com for the realistic
busts of family members.)
Sculpting gives the age old stone a chance to be glorious and
the center of attention. I've decided that sculpting the softer
stones and marble is where my enjoyment is, at the moment.
I see the world as a beautiful place. The idea is to create or
reshape the stone into
something that may bring someone a smile or that warm feeling
of joy.
