The Art and Music of
Sable

Welcome to my realm of creativity and imagination!  I am Sable, musician and aspiring writer, also published in some circles under my mundane name, Diane Morrison.  From here, you will find links to many of my creative works, including albums, novels, poetry, and even some creative hobbies.  Please enjoy!

Music

     Of Dragons and Unicorns

My first, self-produced album, a flight of fancy and imagination.  My music is acoustic filk and Celtic folk in style and content.  Please feel free to check out my profile on MP3.com .  Just follow the link to my express URL: http://www.mp3.com/Sable1.  Or check out the link above, which will take you to my CDStreet.com page.

The Other Side of the Mirror

Coming soon!  This will be composed of some more reality-based folk music than my first album, and I am avidly recording as you read.  For teasers, please click here.

      Avalon Burning

This is my studio project band, which was formed with a brilliant musician named Kevyn LeBlanc, who lives in Maine (across the continent from me).  We recorded our demo together over the internet and ICQ.  We're an epic / progressive metal group, and our stuff might remind you of Nightwish and Mercyful Fate crossed with Blind Guardian and Virgin Steel.  Our first album will be based on R.A. Salvatore's bestselling "Dark Elf Trilogy."  To check out our mp3.com site, go to http://www.mp3.com/AvalonBurning.  Or click on the link below to go to our official website.  If you'd like to check out our demo album "Underdark Echoes," you can do so at the link; this will take you to our CDStreet.com page, where you can purchase a copy online.

     Gallows Hill

After his fifth lead singer quit, I joined Kevyn's goth band.  We've cut an EP entitled "Grave Situation," which you can purchase at our mp3.com site, http://www.mp3.com/Gallows_Hill, or at our CDStreet.com site which is indicated by the Grave Situation link.  All the music on it is featured at our mp3.com site, so you can check it out, although you won't be able to download it all.  We're in the process of cutting our first album, which will be digistally remastered for quality sound and should be available around the end of this year or the beginning of next year.  It will be entitled "Love Songs for the Disillusioned."  Since my last update, we've had a chance to do some performing when I went out to Maine in May.  You can check out all the info on the band at http://www.dark-valley-records.com/bands/gallows-hill.

     Triune

My new pagan acoustic band, formed with my dear friends Siobhaidh and Vichary.  Check us out at mp3.com!

Novels

     Child of the Moon

This novel of high fantasy may be read by clicking on the link above, which will show you the work in a creatively expressed manner by yours truly, containing songs, pictures, maps, and other art.  But it was published online first by www.fantaseum.com, and is based on the Dungeons and Dragons game, copyright by Wizards of the Coast.  It is also partially published at Elfwood.  My novel is not intended to be a challenge to Wizards' copyright or intellectual property in any way, and thus I have published it online as an example of what I can do.  The main character, Lleniares, is an elven youth adventurer, and this is her story.  It will be the first in a series, probably to be entitled "The Moonchilde Saga."  If you like it, perhaps you would take the time to write to Wizards of the Coast and encourage them to publish it!

     Sunfall

This novel, which I've only just begun, is set in the Second Edition Dungeons & Dragons Spelljammer setting, copyrighted to Wizards of the Coast.  Unfortunately, they've decided not to carry it on in the Third Edition projects.  This story is essentially a war novel, set in Arcane Space.  It's the background story of my D&D character Shaundar Sunfall, a freaked out war vet elf, who served in the Elven Imperial Navy during the Unhuman Wars (don't worry, if you're not a Spelljammer fan, all of that is eventually explained.)  While I'm not into unnecessary gore and horror, it is a war novel, so I advise my readers to use discretion.  It might be a little mature for children.  War is never something a child should understand, although sometimes, gods forbid, they do.  Again, my novel is not an attempt to challenge any trademarks or copyrights owned by Wizards of the Coast - I just enjoy the settling and thought it would make a damn good story.

     A Troubadour's Tale

First in a series of works to be entitled, "The Harbinger," "A Troubadour's Tale" is a fantasy/horror novel, which tells the tale of a knight turned vampire, turned hunter of the damned.  It is based heavily on the Vampire: the Masquerade role-playing game, which is copyright to White Wolf Inc.  Once again featuring songs, artwork and so forth, it is not intended to challenge the intellectual property or copyrights of White Wolf in any way, but merely to display my capabilities.  If you would like to write to White Wolf to encourage them to publish me, please do so.  This novel is partially published at Elfwood as well.

     The Hellhounds

First in a series of the same name, this fantasy/horror is also based on White Wolf role-playing games; in this case, Werewolf: the Apocalypse.  Once again I have no intention of challenging intellectual property or copyrights of White Wolf Inc.  Following the adventures of a pack of young Garou from their Rites of Passage to becoming Elders in their own right, this story examines Campbellian symbolism and the true nature of good and evil.  This first novel in the series is about coming of age and loss of innocence.

Poetry

     Poetry.com

I have entered two of my poems into the Poetry.com monthly poetry competitions.  The first one, Mother, was selected for the finals in the June competition.  The second, Voyager, was only recently added and I have no idea how it's faring yet, but you can read it at the link provided.  The truly observant who follow my music will note that "Voyager" is the source of the lyrics for "The Unicorn's Reprise," which appears on my album Of Dragons and Unicorns (link featured in the Music section above.)  Both poems will be published in an upcoming anthology produced by Poetry.com, entitled The Silence Within.   The link takes you to a page where you can order the book.

     The Dolphin Place

An online friend of mine has published one of my poems.  To read it without going directly to his homepage, please click here.

Profile at Elfwood

     Profile at Elfwood

Elfwood.com is an online project to compile a great archive of fantasy and science fiction art and literature.  It is primarily geared towards amateur artists looking to make a name for themselves - like me!  I encourage you to explore the site in greater detail once you have checked out my profile.  Most of the works here are repeated in more complete and elaborate forms on some of the other pages linked to this one, but it's interesting nonetheless.  My thanks to the good people at Elfwood for their assistance!
