How to Sidewalk

Like the Moonwalk, the sidewalk pattern is started and finished with just a few steps, but to make it magical and illusionary as it's intended, you can only repeat the steps over and over again for about 3 or 4 times before people start to figure out how you are doing it. The following is the method that I find most comfortable.

To start the Sidewalk you need to begin by placing your toes pointing forward from your body, and feet shoulder width apart, then pivot the right foot on the toe area so it kicks the inside of the left foot and proceed to swing it overtop of the left. As the right foot swings, it should end at a 180 degree angle to your body with your toes at the right of you. Simultaneously, you should hover your left foot over to the left with toes angling diagonally to forward and then without changing the foot angle, rest it on the toe area and slide it inward into the right foot and then pivot leftward so the foot is again shoulder width and pointing forward. At the same time as that moment you must move your right foot by pivoting on the heel to move it back towards the left so it as well is shoulder width and pointing forward.

nb: this is just one of many variations that can be done. I've seen Michael do it at least two different ways. You might try replacing the pivoting and sliding with stepping like the kid does at parts of the Jam music video.

Try doing The Robot dance with your upper body against the flow of the sidewalking like Michael does in the MTV 1995 music awards show during the Dangerous Medley.
