Painted Shirt Native Arts & Crafts - History of Painted Shirt

When Aaron Lee first started out, he started selling arts and crafts professionally during the pow wows that he attended as a Traditional Men's dancer. From 1988 to 1991 Aaron was still dancing and selling crafts part time. He created custom orders for friends in the pow wow circle and acquaintances. His first major show selling native arts and crafts was in Calgary, Alberta called "Feather in Your Saddle" organized by Molly Hamilton in 1994. Pictured below is an article featuring Aaron Lee and his former business partner in the 'Small Business' section of the Calgary Herald in July 1994.

Aaron has taken his home business to the next level by becoming a certified Native Artisan and Cultural Arts Instructor, getting on-board with computer technology and producting new ways to market himself and his business. His "new" business partner has created the Painted Shirt web site and numerous promotional items to spread the word of Aaron and his business in order to reach people and help them understand how to tell of quality arts and crafts.

Painted Shirt Native Arts & Crafts operates out of Aaron's home and Aaron does local craft shows, pow wows, trade shows, conferences and local flea markets.
