Painted Shirt Native Arts & Crafts - Aaron Lee

My name is Aaron Lee. I am a Cree First Nations artisan from the Ermineskin band of Hobbema, Alberta. I have been an artisan for over 15 years selling native crafts at many arts shows, pow-wows and various crafts stores and museum shops too numerous to list.

I graduated from Portage collage in Lac La Biche, Alberta from the Native Artisans in 1998-99 and the Native Cultural Arts program in 1999-00. I have worked at Ben Calf Robe School in Edmonton. I am engaged to Clarisa, the love of my life and I have two daughters.

As a member of the native artisan community, I have participated in many conferences and trade shows here in Alberta. I find it important to be an active member in many native cultural activities. Being an artisan for this span of time I can say that I have had my work travel the world.

As a child I was introduced into the pow-wow circle as my family was very active in pow wows. I danced traditional for many years and this has taught me the importance of keeping our peoples traditions alive. When I work on my crafts I always keep a good state in mind as it is my belief that what energies we hold when we work is instilled in our work.
