The horizontal (HR) and vertical (VR) ribbed coated paper from Abitibi-Price can be identified with the naked eye, but are not as pronounced as the uncoated version common with the Caricature definitives.
The 3mm tagging (GT2-3) is slightly splotchy and uneven, while the 4mm (GT4-4) is crisp and even. In addition to the 14c, the 17c value also exists with the tagging varying in density. However, the 3mm width has yet to turn up.
The 32c Harrison paper printing (plate 2) has the blue background a shade darker than the original Abitibi-Price printing (plate1).
The grey shade of the queens portrait varies considerably on all values.
Many interesting constant varieties exist on all values up to the 30c.
