YUKON
The first execution under Canadian law, in the area that the Yukon now encompasses, was in 1899. There was most likely no executions in the area prior to 1870, as there was a very small population and no presence of law.


YUKON (1898-PRESENT)
The Hudson's Bay Co. controlled the area, then known as North-Western Territory. Canada took ownership of the area in 1870 and it was amalgamated with Rupert's Land to form the Northwest Territories. In response to the sudden increase in population due to the gold rush, the new territory of Yukon was divided off from the Northwest Territories in 1898.

Tatamigana 1924 February 01 hanged Herschel Island murder M Native ? ? ? During a jail escape, shot RCMP Cpl W. A. Doak while the officer was asleep. He was imprisoned for 5 other murders. Tried by a travelling court from Edmonton, to demonstrate the judicial process to the Inuit.
