TIM BROWN AND PETER GILMORE CELTIC AND OLDTIME MUSIC DUO

Guitarist Peter Gilmore was born and raised in Dublin into a musical family. He started playing professionally in Dublin in the 70's usually in the company of guitarist Jimmy Faulkner. Moving to Vancouver island in the early 80's he turned his attention to jazz and traditional Irish music which he has been playing since then. In the last few years he has been playing that exclusively and has recently toured Japan, the US, and Ireland. He plays the guitar in a very unusual open tuning which combined with his jazz sensibilities makes for interesting listening. He has worked with Liz Carroll, Mary Shannon, Bobby Gardiner, Johnny Connolly, Paddy Keenan and Laurence Nugent. He has recorded with Seamus Egan and will appear on Laurence Nugent's latest CD.
Tim Brown is a relative newcomer to the professional music
stage, but has been playing the fiddle for most of his
life. He began learning the violin at the tender age
of three, crossing over to Canadian Old Time fiddle at
nine. In his teens he was the BC Fiddle Champion
twice, and he played at the Canadian Grand Masters
Invitational Fiddle Championships in Ottawa five years
in a row. This twenty-three-year-old can be regularly
found playing either folk or Celtic music at local
festivals and concerts, or as part of the country band
"Moon Shadow". Tim recently joined forces with
guitarist Peter Gilmore, and together they have
developed their own Celtic-oriented style.
