Snowboarding

I've been snowboarding since 1994. My first ride was a Burton Air 5.1. The thing was a tank compared to the
gear you can be today. I've ridden at: Silverstar, Big White, Whistler/Blackcomb, Sun Peaks, Cypress Mountain,
and Grouse Mountain.

Right now my setup is a Burton Custom 48 with Custom Freestyle bindings and Nitro Phenix boots. Awesome
board response, tight turns, works well freeriding, park and pipe riding.

I like to ride everything - back country powder, freeriding, park and pipe. Riding powder has been most
rewarding. It's real powder, not crusty on top or wet and heavy. Nice soft landings on the kickers and carving
through it is just perfect! I used to average about 40 riding days / season. Favorite tricks: 360 indy's, 540's,
backside airs, methods.

The season is officially kicked off with a trip to Whistler. Being able to float off the drop off at the top of Harmony
(left side, facing up the hill) means good deep snow! I think it's like 20ft. or so; the landing is steep, but usually
untouched since no one goes off there much. Red jacket with f/s 360 = me <grin>.

Mugshot '99. The old Okley frames were retired after the 99 season's concussion.
Spankin' new Oakley O frames. Clear lenses for night riding too.

Dec-2000, Silver Star Mountain, Vernon. Front side Indy.
We built a kicker in the middle of the night since the night
skiing runs weren't that good.

5-Mar-2000, Sun Peaks, Kamloops. About half a foot of powder. A lot of bowl runs and runs through their table tops. Rowdy crowd on the bus, drunken tour guides, and rednecks everywhere in sight at the village...

13-Dec-1999, Big White, Bear's Claw run. Front side air.
I tried a front side 360 but I caught my nose on the lip of
the jump. We didn't pack down hard enough I guess.
Oh well, not bad for 2nd. day of the season.
