“Ask Burt” - Awareness of sensation

Hello Burt:

Burt I was doing an excercise this morning on being aware of my senses. When it came to feeling, I started to rub my toe on the carpet. I had a sudden flash that there was “no one” owning this. There was the sensation of a toe rubbing the carpet. I guess the sense of nobody owning this as “D.” brought a sense of nothingness and I guess it brought fear with that and I came out of that moment.

This sense of no person called “D.” experiencing this sensation, then who is doing this or how is this happening and who am I that I call myself.

Thank you Burt this may be something you have discussed many of times, but seemed new to me. If you have the time to give some insights to my experience or clarification. I know it’s said everything is consciousness but until you see it and feel it there are just words.

Many blessings, D.

Dear D.,

Thank you for your email. What you have experienced is simply the truth because there is no ‘you’ as you believe. It is scary because we have a conceptual idea of reality. The fear itself is a protection of your personal identity which doesn’t exist and never did. I am so pleased that you have had that glimpse. Please cherish this experience because it is worth far more than reading a 100 books on metaphysics. Now it is up to your WILLINGNESS TO CHOOSE this experience or give in to fear. You have been blessed by grace to witness your nothingness (spiritual essence). This grace opened up because you showed the drive to experience directly.

All sensations, all thoughts and all emotions are merely the illusory movement in order to recognize the truth. What is the truth? It is this elusive vastness of NOW that is so intelligent and so grand that it created the universe out of itself and everything you see. But then, who is seeing? It is this vastness that is seeing through ‘you.’ There is only YOU. Initially we think it is a separate being (which is absurd) because Being cannot separate but only appears to.

Feel the fear and plunge into it with gratitude and acceptance and you will, through surrendering to it, open up a grander way of seeing.

Thank you for your email ( I have been getting a few from more aware people like you) and this is why Bhagavan wants me to start the new series of scripts based on these blocks to clarity.

With much love and appreciation for having someone like you at satsangs,

Burt
