Funbook is the chapbook press operated by artist and writer Misa Nikolic. It first took form in 2000 as a satirical newsletter, having been conceived during a particularly tedious moment in an art history seminar at UBC. Today Funbook specializes in small runs of artist books, exhibition catalogs, books of poetry, and scholarly projects.

Funbook Press' mandate is to publish unique short-run books that would not otherwise come to fruition. The increased availability and affordability of print-on-demand services has made this possible. If you have a project you would like to have considered for publication, please contact Misa Nikolic.

Subjectivity and Globalisation:
a philosophical examination of science fiction

From voyages to the Moon, to journeys into the mind, science fiction has always maintained a critical stance in popular culture. But a closer investigation reveals how science fiction justifies the status quo of industrial progress and capitalist expansion. Using Marxist theory and philosophical rigour, Nikolic examines the mechanisms by which science fiction perpetuates the very ideologies it often purports to critique, with results that are at once provocative and engaging. A book for both the scholar and the casual fan, Subjectivity and Globalisation is informative and entertaining.
