Misa Nikolic is an artist and writer based in Edmonton. He was born in Winnipeg and has also lived in Saskatoon, Calgary, and Vancouver. He studied painting at the Alberta College of Art and Design in the mid 1990s, followed by an intensive art history program at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2001 he received his Master's from the University of British Columbia.

Misa's painting practice addresses the historied nature of architecture, particularly as it has developed in North America. First known for his hard-edge style, he began to pursue realism in his post-graduate work. In recent years he has also made the switch to oils from acrylics. In addition, Misa operates Funbook Press, which produces short-run print-on-demand chapbooks.

08.09.09 Work is finally progressing on the Boyle Street project, which was first started in 2004. This series will consist of 11 paintings, depicting every church in the Boyle neighborhood of Edmonton.

23.03.09 After years of on-again, off-again research and writing, Misa's latest book is now available. Click on the image for a preview and to purchase, or follow the Funbook link to see additional titles.
