How to find the IP address of a print server device

Usually, print server devices do not have display panels or controls.  Most do, however, have a way of printing their configuration, including their IP address, on an attached print device.

If the print server device is internal to the print device, that device's front panel can usually be used to display the print server's IP address or to print a test or configuration page that contains the IP address of the print server device.  Look for MIO or network menu items using the print device's front panel controls and built in display..

If the print server device is external, pressing a Test button (if there is one) will usually print the print server's configuration, including IP address, on an attached print device.  In the specific case of an HP JetDirect connected to an HP DesignJet (or any other print device that uses HP GL/2 and does not understand HP PCL), press and hold the Test button for at least 5 seconds; the JetDirect will then send the two configuration pages to the attached Print Device as HP GL/2.

Check the print server's documentation.  If this is missing, it may be available on the device manufacturer's web site.

If you have router, you may be able to get the IP address of the print server (whether internal to the router or external) from the router's user interface.  The usual way to access the router's configuration is via its built in Web Server - use your web browser. To get the print server IP address from the router, you may need the MAC address of the print server device; normally, this will be printed on a label on the device.
