CALGARY, ALBERTA 9/7/01 SHOW Although MacEwan Hall will be soon closed, David Usher's performance will surely go down as one of the best to grace the University of Calgary. Flawless, exciting and astonishing, Usher performed a number of songs from his solo discs Little Songs and Morning Orbit, as well as a few Moist classics. The turning point came early on with the performance of Babyskin Tattoo. The prior three songs were all from Morning Orbit, and although very entertaining, did not create the vital connection needed for a rewarding concert experience. The song was very gentle song and the repeating of "From me to you, it's not so far" allowed Usher to connect with the crowd. From there, it was smooth sailing with a full range of his musical talents, from the calm My Way Out and acoustic St. Lawrence River to the rocking Alone In The Universe and head-pounding Resurrection. Fun was also had with Usher spraying the crowd with water three-quarters into the show and a surprising combined cover of Madonna's Music and Weezer's Hash Pipe. If Usher's goal was to introduce the audience to his solo career, he surpassed it. "That was awesome" was on the lips of more than a few exitees and if anything, he impressed them and left them wanting more.
