[Jeff Pearce]

[David Usher Live in Kingston]

USHER ROCKS NEW CLUB

Author: Unknown
Source: Ottawa Citizen
Date: October 18, 2003

Now that David Usher is on his third solo album, it seems safe to say that his solo career has taken over his once-regular gig as frontman for Vancouver rock band Moist. We're not sure where that leaves Moist, but we know where Usher will be on Friday: performing his solo material at Ottawa's newest live-music club, the Capital Music Hall, at 200 Rideau St.

Some of the songs will come from his new disc, Hallucinations, a clear-headed display of agreeably light, low-key pop, not too far removed from Morning Orbit, the hit album that helped Usher take the 2002 songwriter of the year Juno Award over songwriting icon Leonard Cohen.

Tickets are $20, plus applicable surcharges, on sale at Record Runner, 212 Rideau St., and through Ticketmaster.

The show starts around 8 p.m., with an opening set by Barlow.
