DAVID USHER SIGNS WITH MAPLEMUSIC Author: ChartAttack Staff MapleMusic have successfully infiltrated almost every facet of Canadian popular music — since starting up a few years back, they've put out records by the next generation of Canadian superstars (Sam Roberts), veteran Canadian superstars (Lowest Of The Low) and everyone in between. Now the label has gone and signed up one of the biggest Canadian stars of the late '90s. David Usher, the voice behind Moist, has announced his new partnership with MapleMusic Recordings. The label plans to release his fourth solo album this coming spring. Usher is currently in the studio working on new songs. The new album will follow Usher's previous three successful solo albums, which have proven that the singer doesn't necessarily need a rock band backing him up to score hits. Usher surprised fans in 1998 with the release of Little Songs (the one where he's holding the fish on the cover), which was significantly more eclectic than the familiar Moist sound. He followed it up in 2001 with the immensely popular Morning Orbit and released his last album for EMI, Hallucinations, in 2003. As for Moist, the official party line is that they remain "in hiatus." << Previous Article   Articles Main   Next Article >> |
