DAVID USHER, SLOAN ADDED TO IMPRESSIVE TELUS STAGE LINEUP
Author: Dan Lazin EDMONTON - The main stage bill for Klondike Days has panned out just fine. David Usher, Sloan, Gordie Tapp, the Classic Rock All-Stars and Hidell are joining the schedule of (mostly) stars set to play the Telus Stage, just north of the AgriCom, at the 10-day exposition this year. Performances had already been confirmed for Remy Shand, Chantal Kreviazuk, Kazzer, Trooper, 54-40, Randy Bachman, Fifth Season and Not By Choice. Northlands spokesperson Kimberly Evans said the diverse and unusually star-studded bill is the result of K-Days organizers striving to please a variety of demographics. "It suits everybody's tastes -- from Chantal Kreviazuk to David Usher or 54-40, there's something for everybody. We're pretty excited this year. We've got some really great names this year." - Trooper, the ubiquitously hell-raising classic rock group, begins the series with a 9 p.m. show on Thursday, July 17. - Sloan, the renowned Haligonian indie-rock quartet, is up on night two -- Friday, July 18 -- at 9 p.m. - The Classic Rock All-Stars, a collaboration of the original singers from Iron Butterfly, Rare Earth, Sugarloaf and Cannibal and the Headhunters, will play their hits at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 19. - Chantal Kreviazuk, whose pop talent garnered her two Juno awards, goes onstage at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 20. - Randy Bachman, playing without his bandmates from The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive, is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Monday, July 21. - Usher, the front man for Moist, will join Kazzer on Tuesday, July 22. That show begins at 8 p.m.- Gordie Tapp, the veteran entertainer best known for Hee Haw, will perform on Wednesday, July 23 at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. - Remy Shand will dish out the soul music on 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 24. - Hidell, a Calgary rock group, will round out a trio with the St. Albert band Fifth Season and Ontario's Not By Choice at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 25. - 54-40, the venerable Canadian rock band, finishes off the schedule at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. Each of the concerts is free with a day's admission to the festival, priced at $7 for those 13-and-older, $2 for those 7-12, and free for kids under six. Seniors get in for $2 on July 23, the day Gordie Tapp entertains. "You pay your $7 gate (admission) and you get that entertainment for free," said Evans. "You get huge headline acts for your low gate admission price." << Previous Article   Articles Main   Next Article >> |
