Aesthetics

Aesthetics is the study of beauty in art and nature, and should be considered in the design of any structures that will be visible to people in the environment.  The best designs look good!

Some suggestions for helping your bridge design be aesthetic include:

- keeping the design simple;
- use symmetry (where one side matches or mirrors the other);
- good colour choices;
- a repeated pattern;
- an interesting texture; and/or
- the material chosen.

For example, this simple bridge by the airport was enhanced with an aircraft-like shape in its middle that makes it unique without adding a great deal of additional cost or materials to the project.
