EMILY Beaglebuddys A Merry Chase CD 1994 - 2007 Emily was our very first Beagle. Purchased from an ad in the newspaper - we thought she was adorable - she was so small for her age! We soon found out why - she had a health condition called chrondrodystrophy - a canine form of dwarfism. She grew to be only 10 inches tall, with very crooked forelegs. Quite the funny looking little darling - shorter in the front than in the rear! Those front legs had to have surgery to prevent the elbows from popping right out of their sockets - even so, she suffered from arthritis and disc problems from the time she was a year old. Emily never let the pain of her condition hold her back one bit. There was more spunk in that little crooked body than anyone could believe. A natural in Obedience, she finished her Companion Dog title but could not move on to higher levels because they involve jumping. Emily retired to live with my brother and his family when our beagle family began to grow. She just wasn't up for the rough and tumble of life in a house full of beagle puppies. It was a good move for her - as an 'only beagle' - she got all the love attention she so deserved! We lost Emily to cancer in January 2007, in her thirteenth year. We will never forget her. |
