Assembly Checklist

  1. Safe all master arming switches and cover with masking tape
  2. Make sure both power switches are off and covered with masking tape
  3. Install fresh batteries in all the electronics
  4. Connect all wiring to the electronics
  5. Install both electronics in the bay
  6. Seal the altimeter bay
  7. Install 2 ejection charges to the drogue chute connections.  6g of black powder per charge
  8. Place charges in bottom of lower section of the electronics bay then attach to lower body tube with 4 lock down nuts. (T nuts and screws)
  9. Connect lower shock cord to booster section
  10. Pack shock cord and drogue chute into lower body section
  11. Install altimeter bay and lower body section to booster section and shear pin
  12. Install 2 ejection charges to main chute connections  6g of black powder per charge
  13. Install 2 ejection charges to main chute connections  6g of black powder per charge
  14. Connect upper shock cord to altimeter bay
  15. Install upper body tube and tighten 4 lock down screws
  16. Install upper body tube and tighten 4 lock down screws
  17. Install wadding in upper body tube
  18. Connect upper shock cord and main chute to nose cone and install
  19. Install assembled motor and tighten retainer screws
  20. Confirm center of gravity
  21. Tape igniter and screw driver to a fin

Preflight Checklist

  1. Install the igniter in the motor, DO NOT connect the launch system leads at this time.
  2. Carefully remove the masking tape from all the switches, without moving the switches.
  3. Turn on the power to the Altacc2C
  4. Turn the power on to the FC877 and check the status buzzer it should beep once then twice. If not proceed to ON PAD FAILURE steps.
  5. Arm all 4 Pyro arming switches.
  6. Arm the unit and check the status LED, it should flash 3 times per second, if it is not the proceed to ON PAD FAILURE steps.
  7. Connect the laucnh system leads to the motor igniter.
  8. From the remote station check the igniter continuity, it it has no continuity proceed to the ON PAD FAILURE steps.

On Pad Failure Checklist

Engine fails to light:

  1. Check to see if the launch system clips have been disconnected
  2. Check to see if the system is working by connecting the leads together and checking for continuity
  3. If igniter can be removed without moving the rocket then remove and replace the igniter,
  4. If not then proceed to the altimeter failure steps.

Altimeters fail to initialize properly :

  1. Disconnect the launch system leads
  2. Turn off the power to both altimeters
  3. Safe all 4 Pyro arming switches
  4. Remove the motor igniter
  5. Remove rocket from launch pad and take it back to the prep area.
  6. Remove both altimeters and bench test them to determine cause of the failure
  7. If the failure can be repaired then reset the altimeters as per manufacturers instructions
  8. Reinstall the altimeters and then redo the preflight checklist

These procedures apply for any in flight failure
(engine cato, airframe failure, or recovery system failure)

  1. Get a Level 3 RSO or Launch RSO to accompany me to crash site for post mortem. (Will not be needed)
  2. Preform a visual inspection to see if there is any indication of the cause of the failure.
DO NOT MOVE THE ROCKET DURING THIS STEP
  3. Safe all 4 of the master arming switches. Try to move the rocket as little as possible
  4. Disarm and power off all the electronics
  5. Carefully check to see if there are any live ejection charges left
  6. If any charges are left carefully disconnect them and short the leads to prevent static from setting them off
  7. Perform a more thorough check to determine the case of the failure
