It was a BLAST!

Wed. August 20/03

Dear Brenda,
Now that holidays are over and things are back to the usual, I'll take the chance to let you know what a great time George and I had at the Reunion. Firstly, thank you so much for being the powerhouse behind the whole event! Without you this never would have happened. The amount of blood, sweat and tears you put into this astounding Reunion impressed the Hell out of me! What a wonderful gift you have given us all. I think you are our class treasure!!

Also, the people on the organizing committee- you guys are the best too. You are all such good, fun, warm people. The interesting thing is how the spouses seemed to be enjoying the event almost as much as the grads. It was such a well organized event and brilliantly pulled off.  Lee Warner did a wonderful job with the picture/music presentation. It was so enjoyable. I've talked to other people about their 20th or 25th reunions and they didn't seem to get the same thing out of theirs, unfortunately, as we did out of ours.

I guess another testament to how well it was mastered, but also because we had so many nifty people in our class of '78. Everyone was so relaxed and everyone was just being themselves. This event really added to my summer. I think that if the other grads had known what was in store for them at this Reunion, they would have done just about anything, to make sure they attended it. Hopefully we will get to see them at the next Reunion.

Thanks Brenda, you've made quite a mark! Kudos to your husband too, for giving you up for a while, I'm sure.

Much affection,  Betty (Britton) Swerhone and George

I also enjoyed the reunion a great deal. Thought I would share a couple humorous stories. First of all, it was not Wes Reese who pulled the fire alarm!  I am sure most of you know that was the work of my three year old son, Andrew. We were looking at the picture in the hall by the new office not paying a whole lot of attention at what he was doing; which was climbing on the chair and then pulled the fire alarm. Sorry about that folks - did not mean to send everyone outside. I heard when the alarm came in to fire hall #1 Brent Hart said, "Those buggers are burning down the school, (without me)!" No… actually I don't think he did say that! It was nice that he could make it Friday evening though - hey Brent now I have a fireman's joke. How many fire fighters does it take to turn off an alarm?

On Friday night at the Social Dale Opheim and myself were chatting the usual stuff, where do you live? What do you do? Kids? etc.  Darren Winegarden walked up and we visit with him too. Darren explains he is a lawyer in town, he was with the FSIN and now has his own Law Firm. Then Darren asked Dale, "What do you do?"  With a very straight face Dale replies, "Oh I am Jim Pankiw's campaign manager."  ………………Well you should have seen the look on Darren's face, and we all laughed, because of course Dale is not Jim Pankiw's campaign manger. I am sure most of you are aware of Jim's and Darren's incident. If you do not know who Jim Pankiw is consider yourself lucky. He is a dissident alliance MP.

On Saturday evening part of the program could have been presentations of awards for different categories. Example: I think I could have won in 'having the most kids' category. Although I'm not sure some days having five kids is winning anything. Just Joking!  Does anybody else have any to add? Did you see that house is still a house, just a little lighter.  Rob Harris would have won an award for being unrecognizable (Rob that baby face is gone).  I may have grown a lot since high school, or maybe I was just that small in school.  It was sure nice to see everyone; I thank all the organizers for a job well done. It was a great time!  Lee you did a great job with the video thanks for that. See ya around.
