POSSIBLE FUTURE PROJECTS

These are a few of the boats I considering for the future. I may seem ambitious, but remember that I have my wonderful wife Brenda to keep me grounded. I'll probably build 2 or 3 of them - I Hope!

Boats to Paddle

A Chesapeake Light Craft "Chesapeake" kayak The backpack on water that you can surf with! Right now, the leader for next boat project is a Chesapeake 18.

A Ted Moores designed Canoe Is there anything prettier than a cedar strip canoe?

Classic Canoe by Compumarie This is a strip built canoe with an asymmetrical hull.

A Sweet Dream Canoe Compound curves in Plywood!

A PakYak folding kayak.

Itty Bitty Sail Boats

A Phil Bolger Brick (Just because I am intrigued with a boat this functional and yet so ugly!)

Mini Cruisers

A Meadow Bird This is a very pretty little boat. (no current link available)

A Phil Bolger Micro I find myself attracted to this odd little craft. The legions of builders worldwide seem to be devoted to this interesting boat. Some Micro sites.

A Phil Bolger Long Micro A stretched version of the Micro. A Long Micro Page

A Phil Bolger Martha Jane Mike O'Brien called this boat, in his Wooden Boat review of the design, a "most significant sharpie." She's a 23' lee boarder that sleeps 4 and has a tabernacle mast. She's light too.

A Glen-L 19 A 19' plywood boat that weighs 650 lbs and sleeps 4; sounds good!

A Jim Michalak AF2 Herb Mcleod built an MichalakAF3 and reports that she sails nicely. This is her big sister.

A Steveson Weekender or Vacationer The skipjack I am building was the direct predecessor to these two designs. I like the upswept bow; very attractive.

An Iain Oughtred Wee Seal. This one is the baby sister of the Gray Seal

Or if I'm really ambitious

An Iain Oughtred Gray Seal (Available in Wooden Boat publications "30 Wooden Boats." See also Wooden Boat Issues 128, 129 & 130) This is one of the most beautiful craft I've ever seen. If I develop the kahunas to take on a serious boat building project, this would be the one.

The incredible variety of mini-cruisers shown here reflects my incredible indecision. Oh well, I won't be starting a project like this until at least the year 2000!

Big Mutha Macho Powerboats

A Glen-L "Stiletto" A ski boat for the cabin would be a good idea. This one carries a big enough outboard with out being a ridiculously huge project.
